The Burlington School District, in eastern Colorado, performed several energy efficiency improvements to schools in their system with the help of a sizable rebate through Black Hills Energy’s Custom Energy Efficiency Program. The school district undertook equipment upgrades and new installations in their elementary, middle, and high schools ranging from energy recovery ventilators to destratification fans. The equipment upgrades were coupled with new building automation systems to reduce natural gas cost by approximately $16,000 per year. The effort was significant enough to net the school district an incentive at the annual program cap of $50,000.
Mesa Point has been implementing Black Hills’ Custom Energy Efficiency Program for over five years, helping the utility reach its natural gas savings goals year after year. The Mesa Point team assisted the Burlington School District through their participation in the program, including estimating natural gas energy and cost savings for the project.
